Challenging risks continue to redefine risk management, and it’s important to understand them to keep places and people safe and secure. The latest Risk Management Infographic from RiskSTOP highlights the most pressing issues requiring attention and encourages a closer look at the complexities influencing today’s safety priorities.

Data gathered from risk assessments highlights key areas where action is required. Over 26,900 risk improvement requirements have been raised, leading to safety measures being implemented across 16,549 commercial locations.

'Risks gaining prominence'

The latest data shows lithium-ion batteries as one of the most significant challenges in risk management. Their increasing use in energy storage, electric vehicles, and various industries has increased chances of fire and structural damage, making risk mitigation more critical than ever.

Other risks gaining prominence include rapidly expanding energy solutions and evolving building technologies, each bringing their own set of challenges.

As sustainable construction and energy solutions become more widespread, new risks are emerging that require careful consideration. What challenges come with installing solar panels and EV charging stations? How can battery storage systems be managed safely? And what should be considered when integrating green construction methods?

These questions continue to shape discussions in risk management, with further exploration needed to fully understand their implications.

Aside from these concerns, the data reveals the top 10 most frequently raised risk requirements. From fire prevention strategies to electrical safety measures, the infographic pinpoints the critical issues demanding action.

Staying ahead of risk

Lisa Beaton, RiskSTOP’s Head of Operations for Risk Management and Surveys, explained why it’s important to stay on top of these risks:

“While longstanding risk management priorities remain vital, new challenges demand our full attention. The increased use of lithium-ion batteries, new energy storage systems, and eco-friendly building materials show how quickly safety risks can change. Our role is to provide the insight and solutions necessary to keep people and properties safe.”

RiskSTOP’s latest insights offer a clear snapshot of the most urgent risks facing businesses today. With risks evolving, proactive measures and well-informed decisions remain essential for enhancing safety and minimising loss.
