- Danny Lillington is the archetypal self-made man who began as a trainee builder´s merchant but has gone on to set up and run three highly successful companies.

Since 1994, Danny has run DAI, a company that specialises in supplying security and fire safety products to the building industry. Its division Door Controls Direct, was created to broaden the distribution channels for quality brands of security and fire-related products. DAI is in the top five companies in the sector.
While setting up DAI, Danny also began developing a range of safe, long-term, high-performance fire protection materials based on exfoliated graphite. The products were designed as a safe alternative to cancer-causing materials, such as asbestos, and, through his company Firestop Manufacturing Ltd, have been used as ´back flash´ safety devices on oil rigs following the Piper Alpha disaster.
Danny joined forces with insurance industry consultant Trevor Smith to set up RiskSTOP of which he has been managing director since formation.

- Trevor Smith began his career in the insurance sector becoming a chief executive of New Zealand Insurance Plc by the age of 35.

Under his leadership the company was renamed GA Bonus Plc and led the market with an innovative new proposition called Bonus (Broker On Line Underwriting Service), increasing the company´s turnover from £10 million to £100 million within three years.
His next move was to a senior management position in parent company General Accident world headquarters where he transformed the UK commercial operations, restructuring around industry sectors and developing innovative propositions for each, again generating significant profitable growth.
In 1996, he moved to New Zealand to become chief executive of NZ Insurance NZ, enabling the company to achieve and maintain dominance of its home market.
He returned to the UK in 1998 to become assistant general manager (commercial lines) for GA, later becoming operations and trading innovations director for CGU and subsequently executive director (commercial lines) for CGU in 1999.
He left the company in 2000 to focus on his passion for innovation, initiating a number of new ventures and advising the senior management of leading insurers, brokers and innovative entrepreneurs on such things as electronic void property protection and telematics applications in the insurance sector. During this period he also co-founded RiskSTOP.
His directorships have ranged from insurance companies and brokers, to pension funds, industry bodies and, with a keen interest in crime prevention, to the Scottish Business Crime Centre.
- Tom Lillington, The RiskSTOP Group General Manager

- Tom has a wealth of experience in both business development and management. He started his career in 1984 as an office junior in a transport company in Wareham. It soon became apparent that he had the skills to progress within the company and within three years, he became the Transport Manager. He remained with the company for seven years.

In 1991 his entrepreneurial spirit saw him establish his own tooling business which, within two years had expanded to cover the South of England until he sold the company ten years later. Tom´s involvement with RiskSTOP began when he was asked by his brother Danny to help set up the new company. He joined RiskSTOP at its inception, helping to lay the foundations of another successful company, and headed up the management team. As General Manager Tom has been instrumental in helping RiskSTOP grow from its first full time employee to a team 175 strong in eight years. His experience in quality systems led to RiskSTOP achieving the ISO 9001:2000 standard within its first two years of business. Away from work Tom enjoys spending time with his family but also coaches the local under 8´s football team, enjoys golf and considers himself a bit of a wine buff!

Michaela began her computer career as a trainee programmer in 1989, progressing through to become the Development Manager for her team. She then moved to a consultancy role in London and in 1998 established her own business, Sphere IT. - More details
At its inception, Sphere became involved in the insurance sector, developing and supporting systems to provide the conduit for input, workflow and management of risk surveys used by Underwriters, Surveyors and their Managers.
Michaela became involved with RiskSTOP after a meeting with a new prospect, where she met one of the founder Directors, Trevor Smith. There was a mutual appreciation that the work of the two companies complimented each other, and the joint venture company, RiskSTOP Technologies was created. The company provides software applications to the ever increasing RiskSTOP client base using the wealth of experience in database development.
Outside work, Michaela is kept busy with her son, as well as the occasional bout of kickboxing, a game of pool or her favourite pastime, enjoying a good film.

John worked for over 30 years in the risk control sector for Eagle Star Insurance Co. and was appointed as Risk Control Manager in 1988. - More details
Throughout his career he has been involved in fire, natural perils and theft disciplines in relation to Property and Business Interruption risks. Experience has embraced surveys of all types of premises and occupancy, including major industrial sites in the UK and overseas, and he has regularly been involved with new construction projects and forming risk improvement programmes for international clients.
As Risk Control Manager of Eagle Star, he had overall responsibility for the cost-effective operation and technical development of a team of 75 survey personnel and the expansion of risk control services. During this time, John’s career also involved working with the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) on the development of risk protection standards.
In 1999 he co-founded The Risk Solutions Partnership Ltd (RSP Ltd) with Stephen King. RSP Ltd. - provider of a range of combined and specialist risk assessment survey services across the UK to insurers and brokers via a highly skilled team of surveyors (Sub-contractors).
The Risk Solutions Partnership Ltd was purchased by the RiskSTOP Group in 2008 and has now ceased trading. RiskSTOP Surveys Ltd was formed in 2008 and succeeds the Risk Solutions Partnership Ltd as the Group company dedicated to providing commercial risk management surveys via a sub contractor network. John and Steve are Directors of RiskSTOP Surveys Ltd, plus Trevor Smith and Danny Lillington.

After a successful period as a Senior Regional Surveyor, he was appointed to the role of Asst. Risk Control Manager in 1990 and majored on fire, natural perils, theft and liability disciplines.
Steve possesses a high level of technical skills acquired from many years’ experience, which has included handling survey programmes for major international clients across the world. He is highly regarded for his knowledge of fire and security protection standards and for his pragmatic approach to decision making.
In 1999 he co-founded The Risk Solutions Partnership Ltd (RSP Ltd) with John Harris. RSP Ltd. - provider of a range of combined and specialist risk assessment survey services across the UK to insurers and brokers via a highly skilled team of surveyors (Sub-contractors).

- Sean Durden, Director, RiskSTOP Private Clients Ltd

- Sean has over 20 years experience in the insurance and risk management sector. He has managed for leading UK insurers/loss adjusters, national and regional teams of surveyors specialising in commercial and domestic high net worth risk management surveys, including assessments of building and contents reinstatement sums insured.

Sean originally specialised as a heritage properties surveyor working on churches and other Church of England properties in the Manchester Diocese on behalf of Ecclesiastical Insurance. Thereafter he gained significant experience in carrying out risk management and reinstatement cost assessment surveys of high net worth and commercial properties, specifically in the educational and healthcare sectors. He has particular experience of sports stadia/venues, more recently working on Premiership/Championship football stadia and National Hunt racing venues.
In 2004 he developed the AXA Building Valuation Service whilst employed as their regional survey manager, receiving the AXA Award for Innovation at Blenheim Palace in 2005. He has been at the forefront of promoting the benefits of obtaining reinstatement sum insured assessments to reduce the risks of underinsurance ever since.
Sean is a consultant to one of Europe´s largest construction cost management companies and leading suppliers of heritage cost data to insurers. He is also a consultant to BCIS, the Building Cost Information Service of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Sean is responsible for strategic and operational management of the RiskSTOP Private Clients service.
- Lee Chapman, Director, RiskSTOP Private Clients Ltd

- Lee has over 20 years experience in the insurance sector where he has specialised in domestic high net worth risk management surveys including assessments of reinstatement sum insured or ´valuation´ as it is sometimes known. He also has extensive experience of similar work in the commercial sector.

Lee has surveyed some of the finest privately owned property in the UK and beyond. From 2001 - 2008 he ran the High Net Worth Survey team for Zurich Private Clients covering UK, Eire and Europe.
Lee has written HNW Risk Management strategies for insurers specialising in that sector.
Lee worked for some time for Ecclesiastical Insurance, his role involved surveying properties at the highest level - including 12 Anglican cathedrals and all the Bishop´s residences. His expertise was also used to good effect training new surveyors on buildings´ valuations of all types of property with listed buildings as a specialism.
Lee has also been a member of a number of trade committees including the ABI Crime Panel.
Lee is often to be found assisting Sean with surveys of sports stadia.
Outside work, he and his wife have a son and daughter. He enjoys coaching a youth rugby union team as well as watching his children play rugby, netball and tennis.
- Andrew Heaton, General Manager (Field Services)

- Andrew joined RiskSTOP as General Manager (Field Services) in November 2009. He ensures effective management and optimisation of service delivery and value of our survey services to our customers.

Andrew is a qualified fire protection engineer having completed an apprenticeship with How Fire Limited and then joined Sun Alliance in 1992 as a Multi-Discipline Surveyor covering all types of premises and occupancy evaluating insured exposures for Property, Fire Protection, Crime, Liability and Business Interruption. He left Sun Alliance joining Aon Risk Services as a Senior Risk Consultant developing and implementing Loss Mitigation strategies and bespoke risk management solutions for numerous national and multi national companies. Andrew was heavily involved in the Food sector of the business and risks associated with composite panels and wrote several articles that were adopted by trade organisations as best practice documents. Whilst at Aon he was also a representative on the sprinkler Steering Group with the Loss Prevention Council, offering technical review and assistance.
Andrew returned to RSA in 2002 where he managed their Global Risk Management department. Managing and controlling departmental expenditure within agreed budgets, he was responsible for assisting in the development and deployment of group risk management strategy. Working alongside RSA´s underwriting directors, he ensured activities integrated with organisational requirements for group business objectives.
Andrew and his team were responsible for delivering cost effective and pragmatic risk management advice, training programmes, etc. to customers to manage, reduce, remove or mitigate exposures to their business and to assist underwriters in effecting the best use of underwriting capacity.
